WHO AM I?

For those who don’t know me, my name is Mathieu, I’m 26 and come from Eastern France. I speak 3 languages and work in e-commerce. I would define myself as an adventurer, I enjoy travelling, living abroad, spending time in nature. Metalhead since I was 13, it has never left me, see the hair 😉

WHY A ROADTRIP IN AMERICA? AND WHY 2017?

🗺 UNITED STATES
Going to the US has always been an old childhood dream. The Wild West, cowboys, desert landscapes, country music, American trucks, muscle cars… I can’t explain why but I’ve always been attracted by all those mythical names: Grand Canyon, Texas, Route 66, Arizona, Colorado, Tennessee… and always wanted to put a “face” on those names 😊

🛣 Road trip
When I was studying in England, back in 2012, we did a one-week road trip with a couple of friends in Ireland (hi to you if you read theses lines 😉), driving along the coast clockwise and we had a blast! And I realized that was the most efficient and most exciting way to see a country. So it was the obvious choice for me, I didn’t even check other options, I knew from the beginning that I wanted to do it that way. Get on the road, get this feeling of freedom and go exactly where I wanted to go (and not where an agency wanted me to go).

When you look back, you realize that time flies. I already turned 26 and nobody’s getting any younger 😉 And postponing something is always risky and a good way to never do it… And I thought 2017 would be the good moment to do it, after spending the last few years saving money for this trip. I started working on the itinerary last summer and 8 months later, I was in the plane, ready to start an unforgetable adventure 😇

HOW DID I CAME UP WITH THE ITINERARY?

It was rather easy actually. I started to work on it last summer, for fun, listing all the things I was interested in. Landscapes, states, cities, national parks, monuments, historical sites, music, TV shows, brands, activities… After a couple of days, I started to sort out each one of them by state and here was the first draft of my itinerary 😀

AND WHY THIS BLOG?

1 – Driving across America was a wonderful and crazy idea. I captured of lot of memories along the way and I didn’t want to keep them selfishly on my hard disk, tuck them away and never look at them. A blog was a good mean for me to sort out all the pictures I took, play with my creativity (hope you enjoy the blog design and features 😉) and a convenient way to look at them and share them. With my family, friends, acquaintances and all of those interested in it 🙂
2 – And I also wanted to share my experience on the road and give advice to other travellers, but this part is under construction for the moment and will be published later, when I find time xD
